Meet every Friday during term time from 18.30pm – 8.00pm

The Friday Cub pack (The Big Cats) started this year with 23 cubs and 2 leaders

We have had a fantastic third year, we have grown both with numbers and a new leader and developed our program with many more exciting activities.

The cubs have achieved a total of 104 badges, including four Chief Scout Silver awards and won three district trophies. Well done to all the cubs; here are some of our highlights:

In our Autumn term 2018 we started with an off road biking experience at Stoke Park woods. We also tried gardening at Otterbourne allotments who very kindly donated a allotment plot for the group to use. We worked on our community badge at Eastleigh Railway Station, putting in planters at the front of the station. We won the district Scrap Heap Challenge and came third in the county competition. We had a great turnout for Remembrance Day when we remembered the end of WW1 and for the Eastleigh lights switch on, where we took our Lego themed float. Bertie won the under 9 and a half Top Trump competition. We ended the term with a fantastic visit around the Siemens train works in Southampton where the cubs learnt how trains are maintained, we then got into the Christmas spirit by attending the district Christingle service in Eastleigh.

In the spring term 2019 we had a night hike and sleepover with our friends from the 7th cubs at their hut. We celebrated Chinese New Year making a dragon for St Georges Day. We had a guided tour around the point theatre in Eastleigh and learnt how to carve vegetables thanks to our new leader Bagheera. Our Football team won the district 6 a side competition bringing the Waghorn cup home. One of our parents ran a very successful science evening and we celebrated pancake day by getting the cubs to cook their own pancakes.

Our young leader Raksha planned and run her first evening teaching the cubs to make mother day cards and flowers.

Summer term 2019 we are looking forward to the following exciting activities:

District Cub camp three days of team building activities and fun. We are visiting Southampton Airport to learn all about airport safety. Learning to Canoe at Lakeside and learning how to care for pets at a local pet shop. We will be going on a hike building shelters as well as learning how to light fires and cook on them.

We now have 23 cubs 3 leaders and a young leader we continue to grow so are always on the look out for new cubs and helpers to support the pack to grow and take part in many more new and exciting activities for the coming year, why not come and join in with the fun.
